(NaturalNews) Food produced in the radioactive exclusion zone around the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant could already be on store shelves around the world, experts have warned.

In March 2011, a massive earthquake and tsunami triggered multiple meltdowns at the Japanese plant. Explosions ejected massive quantities of radioactive material into the air, much of which settled onto the surface of the earth around the plant. There is concern that food produced in this region could have absorbed some of this radioactive material, thereby posing a risk of cancer and other health problems to people who consume it.

For this reason, many companies have imposed restrictions on foods imported from regions of Japan that were exposed to heavy radioactive fallout.

Fraud cannot be prevented
Recently, Taiwanese investigators discovered that deliberate fraud had led products produced in the Fukushima region to be falsely labeled as having been produced near Tokyo. This caused these products to be imported into Taiwan.

Taiwan has banned the importation of foods produced near Fukushima.

The Taiwanese authorities identified more than 300 products that had actually been produced in areas near Fukushima, including tea, noodles and chocolate bars. The mislabeled products were pulled from shelves and seized by the government, although some had already been sold prior to being discovered.

The problem of mislabeled regions of origin on Japanese products appears to be widespread; Taiwanese investigators found approximately 3,000 mislabeled products at the Port of Keelung alone, although only about a tenth of them came from Fukushima.

Importing countries rely on producing countries to correctly identify where their products come from, which means there is no real way to protect the food supply from such fraud, British experts said.

“There is a risk that radioactive food is getting on to the UK market,” said Eoghan Daly of the Institute of Food Safety Integrity and Protection.

Under British law, food produced in the area around Fukushima must be labeled as such and must be subjected to radiation testing upon exiting Japan and entering the United Kingdom. The United States has a similar system in place, mandating the inspection of certain products including dairy, fresh fruits and vegetables, meat and seafood produced in “areas of concern” around Fukushima.

“I suspect what has happened in Taiwan might well have already happened in the UK. Intermediary supply chain middlemen can buy food in bulk and package and label as they like – before shipping them to the UK,” said Alastair Marke of the British food safety consultancy

“Although we have adopted one of the world’s most comprehensive and stringent traceability laws, the UK has virtually no control over how foods are processed, manufactured and packaged in Japan.”

Portland, Oregon has joined at least seven other cities in banning the usage of neonicotinoids, a class of insecticides that many scientists think is behind colony collapse disorder and the premature death and dysfunction of many bees and other pollinating insects. The ban applies to all city lands and will be enforced despite the opposition of some nearby farmers who claim neonicotinoids are critical for producing their food crops.

The ever-expanding number of members of the neonicotinoid family are all relative newcomers in the insecticide world. The first commercial neonicotinoid, imidacloprid, appeared in 1985 and is still in use today.

Neonicotinoids are highly neurotoxic, sharing a common mode of action that affects the central nervous system of insects, resulting in their paralysis and death. Pollinating insects are essential for the growth of numerous crops, including apples, plums, broccoli, peppers, cabbage, Brazil nuts, and cashews.

In 2008, neonicotinoids were scrutinized for their environmental impact in Germany, where they were linked with several adverse ecological effects. In 2013, the EU and some other European countries banned use of certain members of the neonicotinoid family.

It has been estimated that 90% of this year’s class of sea lion pups are starving due to a lack of sardines to eat. A record 2,250 sea lions, mostly pups, have washed up starving and stranded in Southern California, a 20-fold increase in the level of strandings averaged for the same three-month period over the past decade, and twice the number documented in 2013, the previous worst winter season recorded for Southern California sea lions.

A senior scientist at MIT has declared that we are facing an epidemic of autism that may result in one half of all children being affected by autism in ten years.

Dr. Stephanie Seneff, who made these remarks during a panel presentation in Groton, MA last week, specifically cites the Monsanto herbicide, Roundup, as the culprit for the escalating incidence of autism and other neurological disorders. Roundup, which was introduced in the 1970’s, contains the chemical glyphosate, which is the focal point for Seneff’s concerns. Roundup was originally restricted to use on weeds, as glyphosate kills plants. However, Roundup is now in regular use with crops. With the coming of GMO’s, plants such as soy and corn were bioengineered to tolerate glyphosate, and its use dramatically increased. From 2001 to 2007, glyphosate use doubled, reaching 180 to 185 million pounds in the U.S. alone in 2007.

If you don’t consume corn- on- the -cob or toasted soybeans, however, you are hardly exempt from the potential affects of consuming glyphosate. Wheat is now sprayed with Roundup right before it is harvested, making any consumption of non- organic wheat bread a sure source for the chemical. In addition, any products containing corn syrup, such as soft drinks, are also carrying a payload of glyphosate.

According to studies cited by Seneff, glyphosate engages “gut bacteria” in a process known as the shikimate pathway. This enables the chemical to interfere with the biochemistry of bacteria in our GI tract, resulting in the depletion of essential amino acids .

Monsanto has maintained that glyphosate is safe for human consumption, as humans do not have the shikimate pathway. Bacteria, however, does—including the flora that constitutes “gut bacteria.”

It is this ability to affect gut bacteria that Seneff claims is the link which allows the chemical to get on board and wreak further damage. The connection between intestinal flora and neurological functioning is an ongoing topic of research. According to a number of studies, glyphosate depletes the amino acids tyrosine, tryptophan, and phenylalanine, which can then contribute to obesity, depression, autism, inflammatory bowel disease, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

Insurance exclusions based on EMF risks
And now some major players in the insurance world are taking their own stance against the risks being posed by exposure wireless technology including “smart meters”. A global insurer, Lloyd’s of London, known for taking on risky policies has put in a major exclusion clause for all policy holders, to exclude coverage related to exposure to wireless devices as of February 7, 2015.

Lloyd’s of London is one of the largest insurers in the world and often leads the way in protection, taking on risks that no one else will. The Electromagnetic Fields Exclusion (Exclusion 32) is a General Insurance Exclusion and is applied across the market as standard. The purpose of the exclusion is to exclude cover for illnesses caused by continuous long-term non-ionising radiation exposure i.e. through mobile phone usage.

This means that the Province (that is we, the taxpayer) will be held liable for claims from teachers and parents of children suffering biological effects from wifi in schools, from homeowners exposed to RF from mandated smart meters on homes, and from employees forced to use cell phones or exposed to wifi at work. Lawsuits in other countries have resulted in huge payments already, and it is only a matter of time before similar lawsuits are filed and won in Canada.

Potentially those who allow such devices, after having been fully informed about the dangers, could be held liable for negligence, and directors’ insurance may not provide financial protection. Directors’ insurance applies when people are performing their duties “in good faith”. It is hard to argue they are acting “in good faith” after having been warned by true scientific experts and by a well-respected insurer. Lloyd’s exclusion is basically on all of their liability insurance policies. Without reinsurance coverage all insurance policies will exclude coverage of health damaging radiation. If suits for cancer and other associated health issues occur from wireless radiation exposure there would be a catastrophic influx of claims. This is a standard liability insurance response to risk exposure from a global and universal health danger. Perhaps this could be a repeat to issues like asbestos, chemical hazards in building materials and other types of toxic exposure.

(NaturalNews) Just how bad was the radiation fallout from the near-complete destruction of three nuclear reactors at the Fukushima power station following a massive earthquake-generated tsunami in March 2011? The answer is, most people simply don’t know – because the media coverage of the damage and fallout, at the time of the accident and in the four years since, has been grossly inadequate, according to a new study.

As noted by American University sociology Prof. Celine Marie Pascale, there has especially been a dearth of U.S. media coverage, the disaster long disappearing from the headlines of domestic newspapers and cable news networks, despite the fact that the crippled plant dumps three hundred tons of radioactive water into the ocean daily, and the region surrounding the plant remains uninhabitable – probably forever.

Further, her new analysis found that U.S. news media coverage of Fukushima “largely minimized health risks to the general population,” says a press release from the university.

The release further states:

Pascale analyzed more than 2,000 news articles from four major U.S. outlets following the disaster’s occurrence March 11, 2011 through the second anniversary on March 11, 2013. Only 6 percent of the coverage – 129 articles – focused on health risks to the public in Japan or elsewhere. Human risks were framed, instead, in terms of workers in the disabled nuclear plant.

‘Articles discuss instead how dangerous cosmic radiation is’
“It’s shocking to see how few articles discussed risk to the general population, and when they did, they typically characterized risk as low,” said Pascale, who studies the social construction of risk and meanings of risk in the current century.

“We see articles in prestigious news outlets claiming that radioactivity from cosmic rays and rocks is more dangerous than the radiation emanating from the collapsing Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant,” she added.

The sociology prof examined news articles, editorials and letters from two major U.S. papers – The New York Times and The Washington Post – and two additional, prominent online news sites – Politico and The Huffington Post. The four outlets are not only among the largest, most influential in the U.S., they are also the most-cited by television news and talk shows, as well as other newspapers and blogs. Also, they are talked up in social media often, says Pascale. So, in that sense, she says, seeing how risk is presented in national prominent media can provide data on how the issue is framed nationally, in public conversations.

The press release further discussed Pascale’s analytical method and variables:

Pascale’s analysis identified three primary ways in which the news outlets minimized the risk posed by radioactive contamination to the general population. Articles made comparisons to mundane, low-level forms of radiation; defined the risks as unknowable, given the lack of long-term studies; and largely excluded concerns expressed by experts and residents who challenged the dominant narrative.

The results, she says, demonstrates that corporations and government agencies provided disproportionate information and data regarding the impact of the disaster – on the environment, the long-term effects of massive radiation contamination (which are well-known), the oceanic ecosystems, the migration of the radiation globally, and on the exposed human populations.

(NaturalNews) The lawless entity posing as the federal government has issued a new guideline pertaining to the distribution of funding for disaster and emergency preparedness that crystallizes the man-made climate change myth. States that refuse to acknowledge and assess the “long-term vulnerability” caused by global warming may be refused federal funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for emergency preparedness, according to new reports.

Under the leadership of the Obama Administration, FEMA is now mandating that states conduct a new type of risk assessment that includes “consideration of changing environmental or climate conditions that may affect and influence the long-term vulnerability from hazards in the state.” Any states that refuse to comply with this mandate face being cut off from the gravy train for preemptive emergency preparedness.

FEMA’s 2008 guidelines for emergency preparedness funding did not include this assessment requirement. But those set to go into effect in March 2016 will, according to The Washington Times, which puts so-called “conservative” states (many of which more closely resemble neo-conservative fascist states, but that’s a topic for another article) in a bind.

FEMA says it “recognizes there exists inherent uncertainty about future conditions, and will work with states to identify tools and approaches that enable decision-making to reduce risks and increase resilience from a changing climate,” according to an official statement issued by the agency. “An understanding of vulnerabilities will assist with prioritizing mitigation actions and policies that reduce risk from future events.”

But a major disparity between the media’s version of what McDonald’s is doing and what the company is actually doing is causing all sorts of confusion among consumers.

The issue lies in the verbiage concerning McDonald’s new antibiotics policy, which contrary to what is being claimed by some does not mean that Chicken McNuggets, Chicken Select Tenders, and other McDonald’s chicken products will suddenly be antibiotic-free. To the contrary, the company is merely asking its chicken meat suppliers to phase out dual-use antibiotics that are also used in human medicine.

A recent press release issued by McDonald’s repeatedly states that the company will be sourcing chicken raised without antibiotics that are important to human medicine. Those deemed not important to human medicine will continue to be used in McDonald’s chicken products, exposing customers to pharmaceutical drugs for which they do not have a prescription.

Some are calling it “greenwashing” by McDonald’s — a public relations stunt to make it seem as though the most popular fast food chain in the world is suddenly concerned about the well-being of the animals from which it sources its meat. But don’t be fooled. McDonald’s chicken won’t be much better after the implementation of the company’s new “menu sourcing initiatives” than it was before their implementation.

McDonald’s claims that it’s been working for years to reduce the use of antibiotics in its poultry supply to fulfill what it now calls its “Global Vision for Antimicrobial Stewardship in Food Animals.” But the Big Mac chain has been promising this since 2003 when it first announced that it would “ask its meat suppliers to stop using antibiotics to promote growth.”

More than a decade later and McDonald’s is still feeding children Chicken McNuggets made from pink slime and growth-accelerating antibiotics, which have contributed significantly to the rise of antibiotic-resistant “superbugs” in hospitals. So who’s to say that things will be any different this time around, especially since McDonald’s is still just asking, rather than requiring, its suppliers to provide drug-free poultry meat?

Officials within the UN are pushing the notion that the human population should be reduced in order to effectively combat climate change.

(NaturalNews) Of all the seed oil produced in the US, 90 percent comes from soybeans. The shelf life and temperature stability of soybean oil is increased through the process of hydrogenation, which also generates unhealthy trans fats in the oil.

DuPont developed genetically modified soybean oil that has a fatty acid composition that is low in linoleic acid. Linoleic acid was thought of as the unhealthy component of the oil that causes obesity, diabetes and fatty liver in humans; however, new in-depth research has found hardly any health benefits of GM soybean oil over regular soybean oil.

When scientists at the University of California, Riverside, and UC Davis investigated the differences of the soybean oils, they found that the genetically modified soybean oil was not “healthier” at all. The reduced linoleic acid profile does not reduce diabetes, obesity and fatty liver like the industry had promised.

“While genetic modification of crops can introduce new beneficial traits into existing crops, the resulting products need to be tested for long-term health effects before making assumptions about their impact on human health,” said senior investigator Frances Sladek, a professor of cell biology and neuroscience at UC Riverside.

GM soybean oil not healthier than regular soybean oil, despite industry’s health claims
Genetically modified soybean oil has 0 grams of trans fat and a linoleic acid profile similar to olive oil. On the other hand, regular soybean oil contains about 55 percent linoleic acid. The scientists found out that the linoleic acid profile wasn’t the difference maker. The GM soybean oil caused the same problems in studies on mice as the regular soybean oil did. The only advantage that GM soybean possessed: It didn’t cause insulin resistance. However, the scientists reported that both olive oil and especially coconut oil are much healthier alternatives.

“Our previous results on mice showed that replacing some of the
fat in a diet high in saturated fats from coconut oil with soybean oil
— to achieve a level common in the American diet — causes
significantly more weight gain, adiposity, diabetes and insulin
resistance than in mice fed just the high-fat coconut oil diet,” Sladek
said.

To conduct their study, the researchers created a parallel diet which replaced soybean oil with GM soybean oil on a gram per gram basis. They were surprised to find out that GM soybean oil induced weight gain and fatty liver just the same.
