Bill Gates is fond of using his bully pulpit to talk about “miracles” and “magic.” Gates has featured one or both words in nearly all of his annual wrap-up letters for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2017), most often in reference to the Gates Foundation’s outsized financial and ideological support for global vaccine programs. As Gates says, “In the same way that during my Microsoft career I talked about the magic of software, I now spend my time talking about the magic of vaccines.”

Gates’s words give us an immediate clue that he is engaging in his own brand of magical thinking—which social scientists define as “illogical causal reasoning.” How else to explain his simplistic endorsement of vaccines as a miraculous intervention with unmitigated benefits and no down side? The Gates Foundation’s global spreadsheet appears to have no room to tally the massive flood of vaccine injuries afflicting children worldwide, despite abundant evidence that this damage is standing the vaccine risk-benefit calculus on its head and turning childhood into an extended round of Russian roulette.

In a widely cited 2014 blog post on the “miracle of vaccines,” Gates expressed enthusiasm about the “inspiring” data on vaccines and the “fantastic” and “phenomenal” progress being made to expand vaccine coverage. A meticulous review of U.S. mortality data from 1900–1973 concluded:

AI drone “terminator” project meets internal resistance

More than a dozen Google employees have quit working for the tech monolith in recent weeks as a response to the company’s forging ahead with a Terminator-esque artificial intelligence (AI) program that could end up weaponizing machine-learning technologies for use in military war games.

Known as “Project Maven,” the Department of Defense (DoD) collaboration seeks to expand the functionality of AI technologies by “teaching” AI drones how to better identify “people and objects of interest.” According to a Google spokesperson, the program won’t be used to harm anyone, but will instead by “scoped for non-offensive purposes.”

But many Google employees aren’t convinced, as almost 4,000 of them have signed onto an internal company petition calling on Google to abort the project and get back to not being evil, which is what the world’s largest search engine claims as part of its mission statement.

According to reports, those in the know recognize that, despite Google’s claims about its supposedly innocuous nature, the technology “is being built for the military, and once it’s delivered, it could easily be used to assist in [lethal] attacks.” The petition letter also states: “We believe that Google should not be in the business of war.”

“Amid growing fears of biased and weaponized AI, Google is already struggling to keep the public’s trust,” the letter adds. “The argument that other firms, like Microsoft and Amazon, are also participating doesn’t make this any less risky for Google. Google’s unique history, its motto Don’t Be Evil, and its direct reach into the lives of billions of users set it apart.”

As if things weren’t already bad enough for Mark Zuckerberg’s baby, Facebook (the world’s least trusted company at this point), now they are apparently working on a secret project behind the scenes that has nothing to do with social media, and everything to do with scanning people’s brains as part of a sinister artificial intelligence (AI) endeavor.

Known as “Building 8,” the research and development venture involves manipulating the human central nervous system in order to build so-called “augmented reality” technologies that blend real life with fantasy. And heading it up is none other than former DARPA executive Regina Dugan, who will spearhead the program’s success – “in the style of DARPA,” of course.

In case you aren’t aware of what DARPA actually is, it’s a program of the United States military-industrial complex. Known in full spell-out form as the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, DARPA is basically the U.S. military’s “high-tech” division, some of its other projects including a $100 million “genetic extinction technology” that involves weaponizing genetically-modified organisms (GMOs) as part of a global eugenics program.

Building upon these and other technologies she learned about while still at DARPA, Dugan will apparently work towards exploiting the human brain in order to input its functionalities into AI systems that, should Zuckerberg one day get his wish, might be used to merge the Facebook application directly into people’s minds.

FDA finds glyphosate weedkiller residues in nearly all grocery foods, but has spent years hiding test results from the public.

The two decades between 1994 and 2014 saw global glyphosate use boom from just over 56 million kilograms (123 million pounds) to around 826 million kilograms per year. Glyphosate is the world’s most popular weed killer and is the active ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup product. In the United States alone, farmers douse their wheat, oats, corn and soybean fields in over 200 million pounds of this toxic chemical each year. Some spinach and almond farmers also spray it on their fields before the growing season.

Now, a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request by The Guardian newspaper has uncovered documents confirming that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has quietly been testing food samples to check for glyphosate residues but has not released its findings to the public. The Guardian notes that the agency has struggled to find any foods that have not been contaminated by this herbicide.

In an email to some of his colleagues, FDA chemist Richard Thompson noted, “I have brought wheat crackers, granola cereal and corn meal from home and there’s a fair amount in all of them.” He noted that the only food he had on hand that was not found to contain glyphosate traces was broccoli.

Even though the documents reveal that some of the foods tested contained 6.5 parts per million of glyphosate – well above the legal limit of 5.0 ppm – the FDA insists that these results don’t count, since the foods used in the tests were not “official” samples.

Back in 2015, the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) labeled the herbicide glyphosate as “probably carcinogenic to humans,” and linked it to an increased risk of non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

The FDA insists that though it has discovered glyphosate residues on so many of the foods tested, these levels are low and are therefore not cause for concern. As such, they feel it is not in the public’s best interest to make their findings known.

Tracey Woodruff, a professor at the University of California San Francisco’s School of Medicine, disagrees.

“People care about what contaminants are in their food. If there is scientific information about these residues in the food, the FDA should release it,” she told The Guardian. “It helps people make informed decisions. Taxpayers paid for the government to do this work, they should get to see the information.”

The European Union has banned bee-killing insecticides to protect both wild and commercial honeybees that are vital to crop pollination!

This victory belongs to the millions of people from every E.U. country who pressured decision-makers to heed the warnings of scientists who said that neonicotinoid insecticides, sold by Bayer and Syngenta and used by Monsanto to coat their genetically engineered seeds, are causing the massive die-off of bees.

In the E.U., 5 million people signed a petition started by the campaign group Avaaz. The petition called on E.U. member states to ban the use of neonicotinoid pesticides in order to stop the catastrophic demise of bee colonies, a phenomenon that puts the whole food chain in danger.

“Finally, our governments are listening to their citizens, the scientific evidence and farmers who know that bees can’t live with these chemicals and we can’t live without bees,” said Antonia Staats at Avaaz in reaction to the victory.

Neonicotinoids now join the list of more than 80 pesticides that are banned or tightly restricted in the E.U.—but allowed in the U.S.

It’s time for the U.S. to listen up: Bees can’t live with neonics and we can’t live without bees!
