The Real Consequences of Corporatism, ‘Smart’ Grid and Corrupt Government

January 17, 2014The Real Consequences

By David Icke

At the federal level, the illusion of representative government is now over. With a few exceptions, for-profit interests have colonized government systems that were originally intended to serve people.

The danger of allowing this virus to continue, of course, is that the casualty always eventually becomes life itself. Like any virus.

Presented to you is Exhibit A: chief telecom industry lobbyist Tom Wheeler now chairs the FCC. This is yet another FDA-Monsanto-esque revolving door of corruption, which sidelines the rights and safety of an entire nation.’

Fukushima Harms commerce as Russia rejects Radioactive Japanese cars

radoi active carsJanuary 12, 2014

By Thomas Henry for Natural News

While officials in the United States astoundingly continue to deny that radiation levels originating from Fukushima pose a significant threat to American lives, despite many troubling pieces of evidence, Russia has shown its willingness to refuse radiation-tainted goods by turning away 130 used cars originating from Japan.

Over the course of the past year, Russia’s consumer protection agency, Rospotrebnadzor, blocked importation of the vehicles, as well as auto parts, after testing due to concerns that they were contaminated with radioactivity.

“In 2013, Russia has banned 165 batches of contaminated goods from entering the country. There were mainly used cars – 132, and spare parts for vehicles – 33,” read a statement issued by Rospotrebnadzor.

CONtrail or CHEMtrail, you decide

Contrail - chemtrailJanuary 13, 2014

By Wendy Merrill for Natural News

As one travels across this beautiful country, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to ignore the crisscrossing white streaks across an otherwise sun-soaked and blue sky. It seems that, shortly after seeing these off-white lines, the entire sky often takes on an almost murky haze that can last for hours. Remember when short narrow streaks in the sky were actually trails from a still-visible jet plane? Why, in the last several years, have those “jet trails” started to linger from horizon to horizon for hours on end, hardly dissipating at all? Not so long ago, real jet trails (known as contrails) disappeared typically within seconds of being dispensed from an aircraft. Not so anymore.

Who is polluting God’s sky and ultimately the air we breathe? Is it a military action? Is it unknowing commercial airliners? Is it multinational companies? Is it private aircraft owners? Is it a means of subtle depopulation or is it simply a way to modify the weather? Whatever the motivation, shouldn’t the public be informed of these potentially destructive measures? Why are they happening right above our noses and without our consent?

Some sources say that lithium is one of the components being sprayed throughout the air, yet in the same breath, officials counter with the statement that lithium is only being used to study certain wind patterns. Why does a toxic chemical like lithium have to be used for this experiment? Could it be because of its psychiatric and mood-stabilizing effects for such ailments as schizophrenia and depression? What are we not being told?

Then, there are the chemicals barium and aluminum. There must be a logical explanation as to why these toxic chemicals have been found as nano particles falling out of the sky. Take barium, for instance. It’s known as a soft, silvery metal that, due to its volatile nature, must be kept in a controlled atmosphere. And aluminum is no less dangerous. It also is a soft, silvery white metal that is so reactive that it needs to be combined with other minerals to diminish its instability.

And the word “chemtrails.” Is it stating the obvious to assume it’s short for “chemical trail”? Early government documentation showed the use of this word as an identifier of some future government objectives. But today, the very muttering of the word “chemtrail” seems to denote “conspiracy” among those in the “know.” Really?

The word “contrail” is evidently a contraction of the words “condensation” and “trail.” Although some would argue that the semantics are, in and of themselves, a CON.

Chemical companies now adding untested nanoparticles to pesticide formulas

nano particlesJanuary 13, 2014

By Jonathan Benson for Natural News

Industrial agriculture is undergoing yet another major transformation that will amass even more corporate control over the food supply, this time with regard to the composition of chemical pesticides. Untested nanoparticles, according to new research, are now turning up in pesticide formulas being developed by Monsanto, Syngenta, BASF, Bayer CropScience and others, even though the long-term safety of these novel substances has never been proven.

Since their advent in the early 21st century, nanoparticles have been increasingly turning up in all sorts of consumer products, food packaging, seeds and now the chemicals routinely applied to conventional and genetically modified (GM) crops. Though there exists no regulations governing the use of nanotechnology, nanoparticles are quietly making their way into virtually everything that humans come into contact with, including our food supply.

“The agri-chemical and information technology industries have shifted down to the nano-scale to produce new agricultural chemicals, seeds and livestock with novel functions and capabilities, as well as new systems of farm monitoring and management,” explains the Institute for Food and Development Policy (IFDP). “Syngenta, BASF, Bayer Crop Science, Cargill and Monsanto are all undertaking research and commercialization in these areas.”

The purpose of applying nanotechnology to these existing chemical technologies, according to the chemical industry, is to improve the effectiveness of pesticides and herbicides, which are increasingly becoming obsolete due to the rise of chemical-resistant “superbugs” and “superweeds.” By reducing the size of various chemical compounds to the nano-scale, in other words, it is assumed that these same compounds can be made more effective.

Biological activities of nanoparticles a Pandora’s box of unpredictability

But nano-scale materials are unpredictable and admittedly behave differently than their parent particles. Because of this, there is no way to truly know how nanoparticles as used in chemical pesticides, which already pose considerable threats to the environment and human health, are going to affect those who come into contact with them. It is also unclear how these unnatural compounds will affect plants and the soils in which they grow.

“Nano-scale particles exhibit novel character traits (including different chemical reactivity, bioactivity and absorption capacity), compared to the same material in its bulk form,” explains IFDP. “Nanomaterials are introducing new and unexpected forms of pollution. The size, dissolvability and other novel characteristics of nanomaterials enable them to readily contaminate soils, waterways and food chains, posing new and little understood ecological risks.”

These same characteristics translate into potential problems for human health, as nanoparticles penetrate, absorb and metabolize differently than the normal-sized particles from which they are derived. Research conducted by the group Friends of the Earth, for instance, found that some nanoparticles are capable of absorbing directly into the bloodstream upon inhalation.

“Scientific evidence demonstrates nanoparticles are able to cross cellular barriers (including the stomach wall), increasing absorption rates and bioavailability,” adds IFDP. “There is also evidence demonstrating nanoparticles are cytotoxic (i.e. toxic to cells).”

With all this in mind, the thought of indiscriminately spraying chemical solutions loaded with nanoparticles all over our food crops is disturbing. The way nanoparticles behave is so foreign to almost everything we know about how normal particles function that using them is nothing short of irresponsible, at best. Worse is the fact that nanoparticles only provide short-term solutions to the much greater problems of industrial agriculture, which in and of itself is a recipe for disaster.

“In many instances, nano-innovations offer short term techno-fixes to the problems facing modern industrial agriculture and food systems,” concludes IFDP. “At the same time, these applications threaten to further concentrate corporate ownership and control of large sections of food production systems and markets, and to increase inequalities and power imbalances across the food system.”

UK Bread and Cereal Bars found to be Contaminated with Glyphosate

Bread etc.Contaminated with GlyphosateJanuary 13, 2014

By PF Louis for Natural News
The UK and EU populace doesn’t embrace Monsanto’s propaganda, and their governments are somewhat less dominated by Monsanto minions than the US government is. So traces of glyphosate in major British non-GMO food brands should be a huge red flag for us.
UK news site The Ecologist featured a study performed by a British anti-GMO group called GM Freeze. Two major food brands contained traces of glyphosate. The research disclosed that all four cereal bars produced by Jordans and 34 out of 40 bread products sampled from Walburtons contained traces of glyhosate. These are both big name brands in the UK.

Those traces were below the EU maximum allowable glyphosate residue amounts for cereal products. But many disagree with the maximum allowable amounts, pointing out that glyphosate is an endocrine disruptor and thus shouldn’t be tolerated at any level.

So how does glyphosate show up in those biscuits and breads where GMOs aren’t grown? Well, RoundUp is such a popular herbicide that it’s used on non-GMO grain fields. Normally, RoundUp destroys all plant life that’s not grown from RoundUp Ready GMO seeds that are designed to keep the pesticide from killing those GMO corn or soy crops.

But farmers can use it on non-GMO fields before planting to get rid of or prevent weeds from choking the new crops, and they can be used just before harvesting to make combining easier. That’s how glyphosate can show up in foods from non-GMO grain sources. Only organic crops will be free of any pesticide residues.

Study: Roundup Ready GM soybeans accumulate poison more than equivilant non-GM soybeans

January 15, 2014Soybeans-Money-Dollar-Bills

By Thomas Henry for Natural News

Biotech proponents are fond of proclaiming how little difference there is between typical crops and their genetically engineered varieties – but fresh findings show that not everything is created equal after all.

Researchers from the GenOk Centre for Biosafety in Norway outright rejected the widespread claim that GM soybeans are “substantially equivalent” to non-genetically engineered soy crops after comparing the nutritional make-up and contamination levels of genetically modified, conventional and organic varieties of soy.

The scientists’ new paper, published in Food Chemistry and titled “Compositional differences in soybeans on the market: glyphosate accumulates in Roundup Ready GM soybeans” (available online ahead of print), reveals startling research that examines the significant differences that could be posed by eating genetically engineered foods, despite the fact that they look identical to non-GM versions. GM soybeans account for an unsettling 93% of U.S. and 75% of global soybean crop production.

Shockingly, analysis found that GM soybeans engineered to be tolerant to the herbicide glyphosate were actually accumulating high levels of residues from glyphosate and AMPA – a degradation product of glyphosate – taken up by the plants during the growing season. Glyphosate is absorbed throughout the plant, including in both the leaves and beans. Both toxins have been found to be bioavailable when taken orally and were found in the final “market ready” food product in every sample tested.

AMPA (aminomethylphosphonic acid), metabolized from Monsanto’s Roundup Ready glyphosate herbicide, mimics the glutamate neurotransmitter in the body, putting it in a class of substances with potentially excitotoxic effects on neuron receptors in the brain and nervous system. Readers familiar with the adverse effects of aspartame and MSG will recognize the documented dangers for excitoxicity to overstimulate neurons and induce cell death.

GM soybeans contained an average of 3.3 mg/kg of glyphosate residue and 5.7 mg/kg of AMPA residue. In 7 of 10 samples, these residues were found well in excess of the levels proclaimed by Monsanto itself to be “extreme” and beyond typical use. However, the rise of herbicide-resistant superweeds has accompanied the increased use of glyphosate through repeated applications, in turn exposing the Roundup Ready soybean samples – taken from real world farms – to higher levels as well.

Not only do these residues in GM soybeans add concerning levels of toxins to the end product eaten by consumers, but they may well also alter plant metabolism during growth, in turn potentially affecting nutrition.

With this hypothesis, researchers tested samples and indeed found significant differences in the nutritional value compared to traditional forms of soy.

Prior to this study, research concerning the application of glyphosate and its effects on GM soybean nutrition has been scant, despite the ubiquitous and widespread use of the herbicide on one of the world’s biggest crops – used to feed both people and livestock. Nevertheless, it has been previously shown that glyphosate can lower nutrient absorption from the soil, as well as reduce the vital photosynthesis processes.

Agricultural cultivation practices – particularly concerning the use of pesticides – was found to play a major role in the ultimate nutritional content. Both the Roundup Ready GM soy and the conventional soy, taken from actual farm yields, were subjected to pesticides, yet the study found no traces of the glyphosate or its breakdown product, AMPA, inside the conventional soy. According to the authors, this is likely due to the repeated dousing of glyphosate on GM crops throughout the growing season, as opposed to the use of pre-planting pesticide applications used in conventional soy.

Organic soybeans were found to be the healthiest among the tested varieties of soy. They were not only free from pesticide residues but contained “significantly more” protein, zinc and sugars than any other type of soy while containing less saturated fat and omega-6 fatty acids, despite lower fiber levels.

The GenOk Centre, which specializes in studying the environmental, health and social impacts of genetic engineering, compared 35 different nutritional factors across 31 batches of soybeans grown in Iowa, conclusively establishing “substantial non-equivalence” between GM, conventional and organic “without exception.”

Instead, as common sense might dictate over industry rhetoric, the differences in how the soy was cultivated – and how much/what kind of pesticides were used – changed the resulting end product, often substantially, despite the similar appearances.

The study’s authors pointed out that prior research into GM crops has typically failed to test for nutritional differences when claiming similarity and “substantial equivalence” to non-GM varieties. They concluded that pesticide residue levels should be regularly tested in the interest of public health.

The Dangers of Eating Sushi

Sushi-Bar-Tuna-FishJanuary 15, 2014

by Alex Malinsky aka RawGuru for Natural News

Sushi is a favorite among people of diverse ages and backgrounds. With a long history in Asian culinary tradition, sushi appeals to individuals all around the world. Typically, this type of food is perceived as healthy and safe. In fact, many individuals opt for sushi at lunch or dinner, because they believe that it’s the healthier option. But before you head down to buy your favorite roll, take into consideration the following risks that are associated with this particular type of cuisine.

High Caloric Intake
Sushi does offer many health benefits, but the idea that it is a low-calorie alternative to other types of food is misinformed. The fish itself is quite low in calories, but after adding sauces, fried tempura pieces, cream cheese and other extras, these rolls can pack quite the caloric punch. A healthy diet relies upon the right consumption of calories, so it is important that you understand exactly what you’re eating to ensure that you are keeping your meals in line with your dietary needs.

Mercury Poisoning
Tuna is notorious for high mercury content, and this is the type of fish that is used most frequently to make sushi. A neurotoxin, mercury can wreak havoc on the body and is particularly found in tuna, swordfish, marlin and shark. Some of the symptoms of mercury poisoning include vision impairment; tingling throughout the body; inability to coordinate movement; speech, hearing and walking difficulties; and muscle weakness.

Parasites
The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommends cooking seafood to keep foodborne illness at bay. When eating sushi, you opt not to have your fish cooked and can expose yourself to a wide range of viruses, bacteria and parasites. Parasites, in particular, are common in sushi that has not been prepared according to industry standards. These parasites can cause a wide range of health concerns, making those affected quite miserable for several days. Some of the symptoms of a parasite include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting and the expulsion of a tapeworm. Furthermore, parasites can create a great deal of pain in the abdomen, as they can damage the lining of the stomach, intestines and other elements of the digestive tract.

Pickled Ginger and Wasabi
Pickled ginger is a condiment that is almost always served with sushi. This is, oftentimes, an acquired taste that some people simply don’t like, and overeating this particular substance can lead to upset stomach, irritation and heartburn. But there are more serious dangers lurking within pickled ginger servings. Oftentimes, this sushi ingredient contains food coloring, such as Red #40, that can cause allergies, hyperactivity and congestion. Additionally, depending upon the manufacturer’s recipe, pickled ginger frequently contains preservatives and other chemical substances that can cause vast health problems, such as potassium sorbate, MSG, aspartame and sodium benzoate.

Wasabi, too, may contain highly dangerous chemical additives. Some of these may include artificial flavors and colors, rapeseed oil, citric acid, corn flour, soy and cornstarch.

Is Eating Sushi Worth the Risk?

Big manufacturers want GMO foods labeled as “natural”

GMO-Egg-Science-Needle-InjectJanuary 15, 2014

by Antonia

The Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) advised in its letter to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration last month that it is planning to petition the agency early this year to authorize the labeling of foods containing genetically modified organisms as “natural.” Known as the “Big Food” organization, GMA represents such companies as The Coca-Cola Co., ConAgra Foods, Bayer CropScience and more than 300 others.

Lawsuits for mislabeling

According to GMA’s letter, grocery manufacturers are currently facing 65 lawsuits revolving around the issue of whether or not the foods containing GMOs can be labeled as “natural.” Many of the past lawsuits have resulted in multimillion dollar settlements for consumers who felt that they were cheated by manufacturers’ mislabeling of products. No proper definition of “natural” foods is currently offered by the FDA.

Local regulations

At least 26 states have considered legislation on the labeling of bioengineered foods. Activists in Maine, Connecticut and Vermont have achieved partial success in pushing for mandatory GMO labels on bioengineered products. GMA wants a federal regulation that would overwrite these local laws, however.

GMO opponents speak up

The move has caused a lot of outrage from the proponents of natural foods. “Genetic engineering, by its very definition, is not a natural process,” said Colin O’Neil, Director of Government Affairs at the Center for Food Safety. “It is an artificial and novel process, which often involves inserting foreign (often bacterial) genetic material into a food plant, crop or animal.”

There are several organizations that support consumer awareness when it comes to biotechnology. GMO Inside organization, for example, states that GMO foods are already labeled in more than 60 countries, and they promote GMO labeling in the United States. “If corporations won’t label GMO foods, then we the people will,” is the group’s motto. It encourages consumers to print out free “May contain genetically engineered ingredients” labels. While these can’t be used on the products in grocery stores, people can put them on anything that’s already been purchased, such as their own groceries, or food at picnics or work gatherings.

Take 10 Minutes To Inform Yourself On The Fukushima Crisis

radioactiveJanuary 13, 2014

By Jeff Roberts for Activist Post

The single most articulate and passionate advocate of citizen action to remedy the nuclear and environmental crises, Dr Helen Caldicott, has devoted the last forty two years to an international campaign to educate the public about the medical hazards of the nuclear age and the necessary changes in human behaviour needed to stop environmental destruction.

The video is from 2011, and it showcases Caldicott’s dire warning about the Fukushima disaster. Her speech presents the crisis in clear light, giving no sugar-coating to the current rug-swept topic.

It’s time for us to stop denying our environmental and social responsibility. We cannot coin Fukushima information as “fear mongering” any longer. The message needs to get out to as many people as possible so that we can come together with a solution that, at the very least, slows any further damage from occurring.

Scientists Predict Lack of Honey Bees Will Lead to a Food Crisis

JaLack of Honey Bees food crisisnuary 9, 2014

By Chris Carrington for Activist Post

A lack of honey bees is causing a crisis in agriculture with scientists confirming that there are not enough bees to pollinate crops.

The Department of Agriculture is worried about the honey bees in the United States. Colony Collapse Disorder has resulted in the loss of tens of millions of bees country wide and has left scientists worrying about food security.

Pesticides are causing huge concerns and scientists have said they are contributing to the die offs with some predicting that if it continues there will be a threat to the US food supply.

Mainstream Media Blackout: Maine Second State to Pass GMO Labeling Law

gm corn1January 11, 2014

By Melissa Melton for Activist Post

Maine joined Connecticut this week as the second state in the nation to sign a genetically modified food labeling law, but you may not have heard much about it because the mainstream media hasn’t really said anything about it.

No MSNBC. No CNN. No ABC. No other major news outlets are touching this story. Why?

Well, I guess that speaks volumes about who owns the mainstream news and what their agenda really is, doesn’t it?

Connecticut became the first state to sign a law requiring that foods be labeled if they contain genetically modified ingredients back in December.

Proponents of the bill said the provision would quell concerns about an almost-certain lawsuit by industry groups and Monsanto, which vowed to challenge the laws in Maine and Connecticut on the basis that they violate the free speech and interstate commerce provisions of the U.S. Constitution.

Yep. That’s right. States aren’t going at it alone because apparently they are scared of being sued by Monsanto.

Also, knowing what is in your food is apparently somehow unconstitutional.
Monsanto threatened to sue the state of Vermont back in spring 2012 over even thinking about passing a GMO labeling bill.

So, I guess that means Monsanto and mega food companies are now running the show and making all the rules, I’m sorry, laws, and those laws (or lack thereof) say you don’t get to know what’s in your food.

No-Brainer Course In Derailing The Trans-Pacific Partnership

TPPAJanuary 9, 2014

By Heather Callaghan for Activist Post

If you don’t know what it is yet – that means it’s working. The secrecy, that is. But once Pandora’s Box is opened, there’s no putting anything back. It will go down in history as one of the worst, oppressive plagues to saturate the planet.

The Trans-Pacific Partnership 1. A “free trade” agreement that would set rules on non-trade matters such as food safety, internet freedom, medicine costs, financial regulation, and the environment. 2. A binding international governance system that would require the United States, Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, Vietnam, and any other country that signs on to conform their domestic policies to its rules. 3. A secret trade negotiation that has included over 600 official corporate “trade advisors” while hiding the text from Members of Congress, governors, state legislators, the press, civil society, and the public.

Like Spider Man trying to stop a train from going over with nothing but his strength and shooting threads; we are going to need all the Web we can get to stop the fast-tracking Trans-Pacific Partnership from running over us. Perhaps more aptly, it is a tangled web we’ll be left trapped in as prey if we do nothing.

Here’s a sampling of what you can kiss goodbye if this mammoth piece of legislation goes through…What’s left of our jobs, food safety, Internet freedom, natural medicine, small farming, choice in medicine, financial regulation, privacy and more. Basically, all your rights. It permeates every area of your life, it’s been ramrodded through the Senate, and the media is not saying anything. It grants the likes of Monsanto, Wall Street and other huge entities full reign with immunity.

Kiss any last sovereignty goodbye and say hello to your new global crypto-corpocracy complete with international tribunals and the end of domestic law – from your newly refurbished prison cell, of course. After all, you clicked on the wrong Internet link! And your ISP was watching and reported you. In the near future, this article could be enough to jail me, ban my whole family from the Internet, have computers seized and delete the website. No more videos that piece other clips together, or anything that hints at “infringement,” no more fair use, so no more non-corporate news.

It’s been shrouded in secrecy, especially from the People and Congress, planned behind closed doors for years, and proponents are searching for sponsors to have the President push it through now that Congress is back from recess.

EU To Ban Heirloom Seeds and Criminalize Unregistered Gardens

Heirloom SeedsIf the global domination is allowed to take root, biotech and Big Agra will control the world food supply, at the expense of personal liberty.

Because independence is the greatest of all crimes under the emerging global government, which essentially works to protect the dominance established by the biggest of corporations, who participate, in turn, as de facto members of the ruling oligarchy – and in baby steps through the EU, and emerging North American Union, the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

The U.S. has already seen its fair share of cases where backyard gardens and rain collectors are raided by SWAT teams, shut down through regulations and otherwise intimidated out of proliferation.

Now, official policies to support this kind of dominance by biotech, pesticide companies and other plays in big agribusiness are being pushed through in Europe, in this case by the European Commission through a truly bunk proposed law.

Sewage Sludge: Whole Foods Quietly Agrees To Drop Waste Grown Produce

gevirusJanuary 15, 2014

By Heather Callaghan for Activist Post

RUSH Editor’s note: In New Zealand packaged organic compost contains ‘night soil’ which is recycled human waste etc. as referred to in the following article.

In December 2012, whistleblower Mario Ciasulli, a semi-retired electrical engineer in North Carolina, put pressure on Whole Foods to come clean about a fertilizer method among their conventional produce suppliers.

That is, using sewage sludge, the “pink slime” of large produce farming. No joke – actual sewage. Whole Foods’ conventional produce is grown on soil layered with human waste as a fertilizer.
The stuff that’s flushed down sinks, drains and toilets? The water is removed from the resulting sludge, heated and sprayed. Yes, this includes pharmaceutical residues, chemicals, heavy metals, BPA, phthalates, resistant pathogens, PFCs, industrial solvents, flame retardants and other things that heat is insufficient to treat. Guess what else? There is a ton of evidence that these things “bioaccumulate” in the plants and organisms that eat them. It is doubtful that this practice is good for pollinators.

The company escaped scrutiny for a long time by referring to the waste as “bio-solids.” Here is the origin of that little PR spin

NSA Able to Target Off-Line Computers Using Radio Waves

January 15, 2014
By Chris Carrington for Activist PostNSA target offline computers

A report by RT states that the NSA has implanted software in computers around the world that enables them to use surveillance of those machines even when they are off-line.

According to the report:

The secret technology uses covert radio waves transmitted from small circuit boards and USB cards clandestinely inserted into targeted computers, The New York Times reported. The waves can then be sent to a briefcase-sized relay station intelligence agencies can set up just miles away, according to NSA documents, computer experts and US officials.

The radio frequency technology – which often needs to be physically inserted by a spy, manufacturer or unwitting user – has helped US spies access computers that global adversaries have gone to great lengths to protect from surveillance or cyber-attack.

The NSA calls use of the infiltration software and radio technology – all part of a program known as Quantum -“active defense”against cyber-attacks, though it has condemned use of similar software by Chinese attackers against American companies or government agencies.

“What’s new here is the scale and the sophistication of the intelligence agency’s ability to get into computers and networks to which no one has ever had access before,”James Andrew Lewis, cyber security expert at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, told The Times.“Some of these capabilities have been around for a while, but the combination of learning how to penetrate systems to insert software and learning how to do that using radio frequencies has given the U.S. a window it’s never had before.”
